Animate the idea of creative enthusiasts, as embodied in the life of a unique class specialists design a concert hall was established and given the name “Palazzo” in 2010 at Phuket.
“Theatre & Restaurant Palazzo” is a classic adapted version of the famous “Spiegeltent” — traditional Danish-Belgian tents early 20th century.
History
For the past 100 years as a unique design of “mirror palaces” are grounds for creative meetings, cultural events and various entertainment. Since their creation, they were used as dance halls, cabarets and centers of cultural services for the European public. Today in the world have only a few of these original structures.
The most famous of the remaining «Famous Spiegeltent» – mirrored tent, built in Belgium craftsmen Oscar Mols Dom and Louis-Hur in 1920. This handsome spent in a whirlwind of memorable celebrations and festivals, providing a welcoming scene for its variety of famous artists, musicians, burlesque actors. Ever since Marlene Dietrich sang onstage «Famous Spiegeltent» famous «Falling in love again», its magic mirrors reflect the thousands of images of artists and an elite audience.
You may scour in vain the world’s (other) great journals of record for a notice commemorating the birth, exactly 100 years ago this week, of a tent. You read it here first. This is not any old tent. Think low lights, stained glass, and thousands of tiny trick mirrors. There are great engorged folds of velveteen above, groaning wooden floorboards below, and cozy little gas-lit booths, a well-stocked bar, and all manner of human loucheness in between.
Only seven or eight original Spiegeltenten are still in use. Others may be more famous (The Famous Spiegeltent) or grander (The Grand Spiegeltent), but this one, Le Moulin Rouge, is quite possibly the loveliest. The birthday girl is looking gorgeous for her hundred years. She is, however, starting to feel her age and no longer gets around quite as much as she used to.
Never mind about Le Moulin Rouge, there is now Palazzo Phuket. Close to our homelands, we do not need to go that far now. Now you know… the hidden gem of Asia. Get up close to the talented artistes!
